The Steadings B&B is the perfect place for a quiet relaxing break in the country, whilst only just over an hour away is Edinburgh, Carlisle and Newcastle. We are well placed for visiting the Border towns of Jedburgh (7 miles), Hawick (10 miles), Kelso, Selkirk, and Melrose as well as Northumberland with Hadrian's wall, Kielder Water and Forest and the towns of Hexham, Alnwick and Corbridge.

Also available is a spacious self catering cottage (converted granary) sleeping four people plus cot (Z-bed by arrangement) giving quality accommodation where pets are welcome.

JEDBURGH lies on the Jed Water, a tributary of the River Teviot, it is only ten miles from the border with England, and is dominated by the substantial ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. Other notable buildings in the town include Mary, Queen of Scots' House and Jedburgh Castle Jail, now a museum.

HAWICK is most well-known for its annual Common Riding, which combines the annual riding of the boundaries of the town's common land with the commemoration of a victory of local youths over an English raiding party in 1514. The long forgotten Hawick Ba game was once played here by the 'uppies' and the 'doonies' on the first Monday after the new moon in the month of February. Although the Ba game is no longer played at Hawick, it is still played at nearby Jedburgh.
